Sequoia Gallery + Studios, also known at The Hillsboro Visual Art Association (HVAA),is a 501 (c)3, non-profit art organization, which operates Sequoia Gallery, thirteen art studios, and a classroom facility. We offer a variety of outreach programs to the local community. We are located at 136 SE Third Avenue in Hillsboro, Oregon. Our operations are overseen by our Board of Directors which is elected annually and meets on a monthly basis. Sequoia members help staff the gallery at least 8 hours per month and are expected to serve on committees and the Board of Directors. Members must live in the local community due to the requirement that they participate in the staffing and management of the gallery.
We accept applications for membership on a year round basis; however the membership committee reviews applications two times per year usually in the months of October and May. To ensure quality art is displayed in our gallery and studios, prospective members must submit work for jury by a panel of arts professionals not affiliated with HVAA. Please download our membership application to learn about the application process, HVAA background, and membership responsibilities and benefits prior to submitting your application.
To apply for gallery membership and studio space (if desired), please complete the application and submit with your artwork, the non-refundable application fee, and other required documentation (as outlined in the attached membership information) to HVAA, P.O. Box 3344, Hillsboro, OR, 97123. You may deliver your submission directly to the gallery if you prefer. Please pay attention to application requirements as non-conforming submissions will not be considered.
