All printing supplies provided, but students to gather fresh, un-pressed leaves or weeds, such as maple, fern etc. the morning of the class.

Limit of 12 students

Join artist and author Marilyn Wold to explore the beauty of printing plant leaves, stems and weeds on different paper types. You will gather a bunch of leaves (5-6) before the class, and bring them to share in our workshop with Marilyn. There you will learn her methods of capturing the images of those flora to make prints that reflect Oregon on a summer’s day.

Marilyn has authored a beautiful book illustrating plants used by early Polynesians, and we will use those illustration ideas to make our own Northwestern based images. In her long career as an artist and paper maker, Marilyn has taught extensively and has exhibited her art all over the world. Many of the stories and techniques we will learn will be gleaned from her experiences living and making art in Hawaii using native plants to make the paper and to print the plants’ images. The methods we will use in this 3-hour workshop will borrow from those techniques, and Marilyn will share with us some of her very special paper.

Ages 18 and up.

This plant-printing workshop is a fund raiser for Sequoia, and only available at this extraordinary price because Marilyn has offered to donate her time and experience to Sequoia to share her knowledge of plant printing with our community.
