Jan Simmon’s first exposure to Sequoia was helping with the community mosaic project now hanging on the north wall of the building. This first positive volunteer experience led to Jan’s eventually wearing multiple volunteer hats. Currently, she volunteers to man the desk twice a month and has been serving as a community board member for several years. Jan also co-chairs the Plein Air@ Washington County event that is held each September.
Jan moved to Hillsboro in 1962 when her husband began his teaching career at Hillsboro High School. When their children were older, she found work at Tektronix and spent 25 years in the hi-tech industry before retiring. Jan likes to travel, garden and volunteer. In addition to serving on the Board of Sequoia Gallery + Studios, she is also a member of the BagnBaggage Board of Directors. Jan enjoys art and finds being able to spend time with the artists and patrons of Sequoia is rewarding.
