#220 Introduction to Silk Painting with Cheryl Cameron

12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This workshop will be an introduction to silk painting using the serti technique. We will talk about technique, using resist/gutta, color application and blending, salt technique, setting the colors and all that good stuff in plenty of detail. You’ll paint a handkerchief to get used to the process, and then an 8 x 54 inch scarf. I’ll borrow your pieces to set the colors and get the finished pieces back to you a few days later.

The Japanese Ledger Book is a fairly easy book to put together. Once the design is understood, the size can be adjusted to personal preferences. Students will work with basic bookbinding skills: measuring, cutting and gluing of paper. We will learn to do corners and perform some easy sewing to bind this book.

Whether you are an artist, collector, or someone who just appreciates fine art, you can help Sequoia by volunteering to help staff the gallery. Gallery staffers serve 4 hour shifts on the days of their choosing, depending on slots available. Volunteer applications are available online or at the gallery.
