June is the gateway to summer. This June, we are proud to feature artists J. Alex Darr and Christina Massocco. Their hand-built ceramics and vibrant paintings will be on display at Sequoia Gallery + Studios from June 4 through 28. You are invited to come meet the artists at the June First Tuesday Opening Reception on June 4 from 5 - 8 pm.

J. Alex Darr creates hand-built ceramic sculptures. Her pieces are inspired by folklore, social issues and politics. She would describe her art as "finding humor in the unexpected." Alex received degrees in Art and Anthropology from CSU Sacramento. She creates art in a messy studio at Sequoia Gallery + Studios. When she is not creating ceramic sculptures, she is also a metal smith, painter and photographer.

Christina Massocco works in a wide range of media, including acrylics, watercolors, graphite, ink, charcoal, and collage. Her work utilizes fashion magazine advertisements and found materials to build narratives that comment on our unusual, temporal, and exotic culture. Christina is a native of Portland, Oregon.

Sequoia Gallery + Studios is located in the heart of Hillsboro's Art District in downtown Hillsboro just off Main Street.

SEQUOIA GALLERY + STUDIOS is dedicated to promoting the visual arts and arts education in Hillsboro and the surrounding area, offering the community three ways to connect with visual art: the gallery, classes, and artist studios.
