As this edition of the Sequoia ArtNews reaches your inbox, PleinAir@WashingtonCounty is currently taking place at gorgeous locations all around Hillsboro and Washington County. Plein air artists of all painting and drawing mediums are enjoying the beautiful weather that has been forecast for the duration of the event. Plein Air Artists' Reception and Wet Paint Sale

While the paint is still drying on the canvases, come visit with our participating Plein Air artists and view the winning compositions on Saturday evening from 6 - 8ppm at Sequoia Gallery + Studios. Robert Gamblin, founder of Gamblin Artists Colors, will be judging the finished works. Awards will be presented at 7pm. Cash prizes of $750 and $500 will be awarded to the First and Second Place winners. Additional awards will be announced at the reception. Wine will be served by Helvetia Winery.

ArtFest on the Plaza

Hillsboro Arts Month will kick off with ArtFest on the Plaza on Saturday, September 30 from 9 am - 1:30 pm. All are welcome to enjoy performances, family activities, popcorn, a street magician, and more! In collaboration with the Hillsboro Farmers' Market, come participate in this fun, free celebration at the Tom Hughes Civic Center Plaza. Come visit the Sequoia booth at ArtFest to learn more about our non-profit mission to promote the visual arts and art education in greater Hillsboro. October 2017 Plein Air Update

By the time you read this, the our annual Plein Air event will be in progress and pariticipating artists will be busy create wonderful Plein Air paintings for our September 30 Plein Airt Artists' Reception and Wet Paint Sale, as well as our October Plein Air Show and Sale. Many thanks to all our Plein Air Committee members, volunteers, donors and participating event venues. A special thanks to Robert Gamblin for agreeing to be our judge for the event. and to Helvetia Winery for assisting at the Plein Air Artists' Reception. An event of this size and complexity requres many helping hands. We couldn't have done it without you!

Gordon and Riley
Gordon Campbell has created one of his linoleum mosaics as a donation for the Soul River, Inc. fundraiser auction and dinner Oct. 22, at the Oregon Zoo Conservation Center. Soul River connects urban youth & U.S. military veterans for outdoor educational experiences.
Gordon is presenting the mosaic to Riley Brooks, representing Soul River.

VOLUNTEERING AT SEQUOIA

Whether you are an artist, collector, or someone who just appreciates fine art, you can help Sequoia by volunteering to help staff the gallery. Gallery staffers serve 4 hour shifts on the days of their choosing, depending on slots available. Volunteer applications are available online or at the gallery.
