Seasonal Landscape and Still Life Paintings
I love looking at things, closely enough so that they become familiar. To know a place I have to observe it through all the seasons, to see how colors change, where seedheads form on grasses and weeds, when the geese fly. Then there is a chance to catch the specialness of a place in a series of works. I want my paintings to intrigue people, to evoke forgotten memories, to make them feel that they enter into the painting. My work is characterized by atmospheric landscapes with careful attention to detail. I spend time looking for subtle color shifts, using many layers of oils or pastels.
