About

SEQUOIA GALLERY + STUDIOS is dedicated to promoting the visual arts and arts education in Hillsboro and the surrounding area, offering the community three ways to connect with visual art: the gallery, classes, and artist studios.

Have you discovered the joy of living with a piece of art from the Northwest? Whether serene or invigorating, a beautiful artwork becomes more meaningful through time. Our regional art gallery showcases the original work of our 33 juried members.

Browse through paintings, sculptures, mosaics, prints, photographs, mixed media, glass and jewelry, and maybe you will find that special piece of art to take home or give as a gift.

The First Tuesday of every month, come view our newest exhibition of featured artists, and enjoy the talents of local musicians.

The goals of this association are to offer a variety of programs and events that teach and display art; to provide an environment for interaction among artists and the development of creative ideas; to provide opportunity for artists to exhibit their work; to enrich the community through innovative outreach and in-house programs.

Finished-MuralHillsboro Community Mosaic Mural: In 2010, Sequoia received two grants to execute a big community involvement project. Lead artist Lynn Adamo directed a project to create a mosaic mural for the north side of the Terrace Plaza building, home of the gallery + studios.

Eight Sequoia artists participated in designing 13 panels that depict life in and around Hillsboro, past and present. Lynn took original paintings and drawings and created the cartoons that were used as the guides for the mosaics. With the help of 125 community volunteers, from kindergarteners to senior citizens, the mosaic murals came to life.

In May of 2011 the murals were installed and unveiled to the public. Constructed of frost proof ceramic tiles and glass, the mural will last for many years, for the enjoyment of all who pass by.

In addition to visiting  Sequoia Gallery + Studios in downtown Hillsboro, Oregon, look for Sequoia in the community as we reach out to the public to share our love of art.  Sequoia artists display their work in many public venues in Washington County including the new Hillsboro Public Library, Intel Corporation, and the Hillsboro Civic Auditorium to name a few.

We participate in community events such as Celebrate Hillsboro and our artists participate in art career days and demonstrations at Hillsboro’s public schools. Our popular Dine with an Artist events bring our award winning instructors to restaurants in downtown Hillsboro for informal sharing and art talk with fellow art lovers.  And you might even see our Plein Air students outside at work painting local street scenes and Washington County’s beautiful countryside.

Applications for membership are available here on our website, at our gallery and electronically, by contacting Linda Jerome; moc.emnull@klemorej. We accept applications at any time, and these are reviewed twice a year, usually in May and November. Read More….
